#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
This year, they are reaching for $25,000 to surpass last year's $18,000 raised on #GivingTuesday in large part because of a challenge match by the Board of Governors. Donations were doubled up to $5,000 with the matching gift challenge.
This year, the board is again throwing down the challenge to the community and will match donations dollar for dollar up to $5,000.
“Everyone at our YMCA believes strongly in the cause. The work done by The Y strengthens the entire community. We are so proud that our Board has chosen to support the YMCA #GivingTuesday campaign with another matching gift challenge.” said Cynthia Delfino Rubino, president, and CEO of the YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester.
All the monies raised are used to benefit the organization's summer camps, swim lessons, childcare, teen leaders clubs, youth and government clubs and more.
If $25,000 can be raised on #GivingTuesday, 25 children will receive $1,000 scholarships that will enable them to attend and take part in the organization's program.
